hi, Nicholas, firstly thank u for the information you kindly give me these days.
My undergraduate major is also Finance and I am taking CFA level II exam this June. But I don't think one-year study in Lancaster MSc Finance will be easy. I also guess it must be tough and headache.
Since you graduated from Lancaster MSc Finance, would you like to share me some experience in MSF study? 1.What is a typicla day in MSF Lancaster? 2.How about the interaction between faculties and students after class? 3.Does this program involve a lot of group-discussion projects? 4.Can the knowledge you learned at Lancaster be applied to real-world practice, ie is Lancaster MSF practical and career-oriented? 5.How about the career service in Lancaster? Sorry for so many questions again........Thanks!
Ans:
- busy with attending class and study
- you can go to see lecturers for consultation during their specific time period open to students or by appointment.
- about 2-3 subjects have group-discussion projects, depending on lecturers and also changing from year to year.
(1)both theoretical and practical skills. (Hey, it is impossible just to teach practical skills at Master level!) It also depends your future job.
(2)MSc Finance provide able graduates with theoretical and practical skills that equip them for success in the increasingly complex world of Finance. http://www.lums.lancs.ac.uk/Departments/Accounting/PGprogs/
(3) I think Lancaster MSc Finance is surely more practical than Oxford MFE and LSE.
(4)But, If you do not want to undertake PhD in Finance in the future, it had better not to take “Financial Econometrics”, “ Master thesis topic: Option bounds and option pricing with limited information (it needs to do programming and is related to advance research in Finance )”, and “Derivatives Pricing (lots of math)”
(5)For those interested in studying to become a Chartered Financial Analyst, it is worth noting that the Lancaster MSc in Finance modules contribute widely to CFA study sessions at levels 1, 2 and 3. Details of modules that relate to the CFA content are provided under Programme Structure. http://www.lums.lancs.ac.uk/Postgraduate/pgfin/finance/
(6) Please read more details on Lancaster MSc Finance’s related links such as http://www.lums.lancs.ac.uk/Postgraduate/pgfin/content/
- I know some students got the jobs through the career service in Lancaster, but I have never used it.
Hi girl, hopefully, the above can satisfy your curiosity!
