hi, i can understand your concern. i am currently reading in a top business school in europe - though not as famous as hvb/wharton, it's still one of the best in the world. my pay was quite good in china and it's almost similar to your current pay in us. i always thought of whether to go abroad to study since my pay is already very competitive in china. however, i realized that i do have learnt a lot though i just started my study for 3 months. i do not think i can learn so much in china from any school or work experience.
i have 9 years experience in finance, accounting, audit, consulting and it in different top multinational companies. i also have one international qualification, which make me think that i won't improve from the school. just 1 month after my study, i realized that i won't do any job that i have done before after graduation. my selection becomes much wider beyong what i can imagine before. similar to you, since i do not have ibank experience, it's not easy to join ibank. but i do believe there should be many opportunities in ibank, pe, consulting and industries. as to you, probably one of your best choice is to do quantitative modeling work in ibanks due to your phd and programming expertise. frankly speaking, judging from your background, i do not see why ibanks recruit you for their ibd division, why mckinsey recruit you for very 'creative' and 'strategic' work or why industry firms recruit you for management position - sorry i am too direct here. |
