到底是A还是B呢? 说B 的人是在加了个1, 不知道该做何解? 1 + P(x, 2) > 12. 盼望NN指教?

I picked up answer B.

1).12-5 (5 single letters) =7

2).C5,2=10 (10 pair of letters) > 7

这个是对的，C52而不是P52，上面写了written in alphabetic order

不是写有a pair of distinct letters,这是指的不重复的两个字母吧，如果是4的话，只有10种组合不够。

可以试着排列一下： AB,BA(去除）;   BC,CB(去除）;  AD,DA（去除）; ......

可以发现，任何一对字母只能有一种排列，所以不能是P(x,2) 而应该是 C(x, 2)

再考虑到单个字母的情况，排列总数即：X + C(x,2) >= 12

故选 B
