Someone asked me about the weakness of KFBS. I have talked about it in this thread and in another thread. I would like to add a point. Some KFBS faculty do not have work experience or have few work experience before. This has no problem to the technical courses, such as finance, accounting, operation and so on. But this can be a critical challenge to the teaching quality in some courses such as organizational behavior. What most interesting is that the technical courses are given by professors with rich business work experience before, while the organizational behavior course is given by a young professor (tenured) without much business work experience before. I mean, a professor can do research on this in school and by cooperating with some corporation partners, but he cannot understand the pressure in real business. Sometimes, a good strategy cannot be launched because you are under pressure and it may distort your decisions. So, a good strategy or application in textbook is not always true in real business. What most important is that this course asks for rich real business experience. So, most Chinese students do not like this course. We call this course as 'no nutrition'. Unfortunately, this course is a big mandatory course and can ask for a lot of your time. This is not a personal complaint. But if you are asked to ask questions to interviewers, you can ask such questions to show that you did research and understood the school.
I was requested an interview before Mar 5. But I am not sure whether I take a phone interview or a on-campus interview. Could you pls give me some suggestions about it? What questions do I need to prepare for the interview?
I am so happy to receive the offer from UNC yesterday! My efforts in application are finally recognized. I have very comfortable impression of UNC. I attended UNC information sessions twice. Sherry is so nice! It is a pity that she does not interview me. Alumni like you are very friendly with excellent teamwork. From your posts, I understand UNC much better during my application process. Thank you for your great work!
However, currently my concern is how to arrange $60,000 tuition for visa application? Even I get the visa, how could I pay off the loan? It is a big question. I can't help worrying about it. Maybe I am too conservative.
Hello brad,
For the interview, since I am in Beijing and submitted my application near the deadline of round 2, I had no opportunity to request an interview. I waited till mid January and then got a phone interview invitation. The questions are typical: 1. College study and life, why I choose my college, what activities I participate 2. Why MBA, why UNC 3. Teamwork experience 4. Leadership understanding 5. Volunteer experience 6. What would I say on behalf of the interviewer to support my application... Then I asked several questions. Total 30 minutes. Very pleasant talk. Good luck!
