Of 300-plus species of hummingbirds lives in central and south america, all experts agree that they had never been in eurasia.
A discovery of fragile bones show that hummingbirds were farther-flung, the problem is where early h evolved and why the european ones became extinct
Because the delicate bone of hummingbirds, we only can find few fossils. Only two partial fossils are from caucasus. Last year, they were classified as stem taxa, but not all experts were convinced.
The new fossil is the first modern looking hummingbird. Details as below, the size and details of specimen
Not everyone agrees with the above identification, due to its superficial judgment.
E demonstrates the life that hummingbirds evolved 30 million years ago with plants, aligning by ecologist ET, who studies the coevolution of plants and pollinators.
The reason that hummingbirds became extinct, M said, may be due to songbirds. But the real reason still needs to be dug out.
