第一段：OM的遗骸没有风化，啮齿动物啃咬或者食肉动物拒绝的痕迹，也没有任何迹象表明他们曾暴露在池塘表面或以上，他们一直被埋着，直到在排水沟被挖掘出来。这些遗骸与CB,WM,OFMS的mastodon类似。
第二段：mastodon在沼泽中死亡的原因判断
①（否定）mastodon在沼泽中死亡的一个原因是：冲入一个浮动的沼泽地之后被淹死了。但是OM是一个开放水域。
②（没有反驳）另一个推断是他们陷入沼泽的沉积物之中
③但是最有可能的是：m不是淤泥的受害者。列举一系列数据说明，健康的动物的小腿要陷入的更加深才能被卡住。所以如果它无法脱身，可能是因为它被削弱了——饥饿，疾病，受伤。更重要的是，如果是因为沼泽被埋葬，那么m的遗骸应该更加完整。但是从遗骸的松散无序来看，骨头应该是腐烂时从漂浮的身体上逐渐脱落，最后沉到池塘底部。
