二战中黑人占美国军队的1/8，和总人口中的比例一样。虽然大部分黑人被安排在非战斗的后勤岗位，也有很多参与战斗。AAC在TA在具有争议的隔离安排中将黑人训练成飞行员。在战争期间，所有的军队向着平等对待黑人的方向发展，虽然没有明确拒绝隔离。

在战争早期，成百上千的黑人离开南方农场到北方和西方的城市寻找战争工作。事实上相比在之前的战争中留在南方，二战期间更多的黑人搬到了北方和西方。虽然在北方和西方也有种族紧张和冲突，黑人已经逃离了最糟糕的种族压迫，也有更高的收入。在战争后，北方和西方的黑人用他们的经济和政治影响力来支持南方黑人的人权运动。

在战争中，黑人继续努力对抗歧视，challenge南方法庭的投票注册、为平等教育而起诉学校。NAACP的成员从5万增加到了50万。1944年NAACP赢得了重大胜利，在SvA案件中废除了白人优先权。CORE这个新组织在1942年成立，反对北方公共住宿中的隔离。

Paragraph 1:
