Paragraph 1:
- during WW2, blacks = 1/8 US army, which is the same as the general population
- high number of blacks in non-combat, support roles in military
- the air force trained blacks as pilots
- the military moved toward equal treatment of black
Paragraph 2:
- more blacks migrated to the north & west during WW2 than had left during the previous war
- they had less racial oppression and larger incomes
- after war, blacks in the north & west supported civil rights for the blacks in the south
Paragraph 3:
- blacks worked against discrimination, challenged voting, and fought for equal educational provisions during the war
- NAACP grew 10 times bigger and won a major victory in a law that outlawed white primary
- CORE was founded to challenge segregation in public accommodations in the north
