University of Miami Herbert Business School PhD Program in Strategy/IB

The Miami Herbert Business School (MHBS) is an academic unit of the University of Miami, located in Miami, Florida, which is the cultural, economic and financial center of South Florida. MHBS offers undergraduate business, full-time MBA, Executive MBA, MS, Ph.D. and non-degree executive education programs. The PhD in Strategy/International Business focuses on scholarly research into strategic management and international business as well as their interfaces. Offered through the Department of Management, topics examined include corporate strategy, corporate governance, management of multinational enterprises, international entry strategies, strategic alliances, and strategy in emerging economies, among others.

Faculty in this area have published their works in leading management journals, such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science and Journal of Applied Psychology.

The program emphasizes theoretical training and research methodologies. Its primary purpose is to prepare doctoral students for academic careers as influential scholars in the area of strategy or international business. Students have many opportunities to be involved in ongoing research projects under the mentorship of experienced faculty, and the program emphasizes involvement of students in research early in their graduate careers. Close interaction with faculty members enables students to quickly learn to identify and develop research ideas and create their own research agenda. Students also develop teaching competence under faculty mentorship by teaching undergraduate classes.

The program provides financial assistance which includes tuition, health insurance, competitive stipend, and professional development grants. The financial assistance lasts five years conditional that students reach pre-specified academic milestones and receive satisfactory performance evaluations. We plan to recruit one or two doctoral students with enrollment in Fall 2023.

这是strategy和ib非常好的PhD项目。强烈建议有兴趣的同学关注。该项目有两位华人教授分别是IB和strategy世界最顶尖的学者。该项目前两几毕业的两位中国毕业生都在美国R1中的知名学府做AP，其中一人已经成副教授。 学校位置也非常好，位置其实对读博期间的生活质量影响是很大的。
