问些零碎的问题

首先说明一下，因为刚刚发现CD的专门语法区，以前做题时候正好留下一些问题，就想问下。所以请见谅没能用格式发文了。

1，关于“组成”的用法

consist:A consist of B/没有主动表达吧？
compose：A is composed of B/B compose A
comprise:A comprise B/B is comprised of A

以上表达都正确吗？

2，most＋adj.（即最高级形式)，前面有时候加the有时候不用，具体怎么规定的？

3， Because of its importance in modern living, —in all parts of the world.
(A) algebra is studies in schools and colleges
(B) studying algebra in schools and colleges
(C) and the study of algebra in schools and colleges
(D) in schools and colleges are algebra studies

选A而不选D是因为studies是作单数解吧？

4，Over the past few year, many towns in the United States have been joining with neighboring communities to share the costs of government.

错误很容易找，year－years，哪位跟我说下C中joining怎么解？

5，According to some critics, the novels of William Burroughs demonstrate the major hazard of absurd literature, _____ tendency toward over-embellishment and incoherence.

(A) notwithstanding

(B) besides

(C) is a

(D) its

选D，有人说是demonstrate后省略了that，即demonstrate后跟一个宾语从句，可是也理解不来啊

6，Papier-mache figures by Stephen Hensen, which they cheerfully depicted life in the Information Age, were the focus of an exhibit at the Museum of American History.

同样很好改，去掉A中的they，可是C的focus难道不应该用复数的foci吗？前面be动词是were啊。或者focus没有复数形式？

7，呵呵，最后问个强悍的

is not larger than跟is no larger than哪个对？或者都对？

no应该可以作副词吧？你看这边就是“no larger”的用法

adv.

记得以前上学的时候，好像是两种结构-no more than(只是)  not more than(至多），意义略有不同，呵呵！

这题，如果c是not larger than 的话，就也是答案。
