While the admissions cycle for the coming year is far off, we would like to briefly discuss and advertise some traditionally "American" universities. Most typical among this breed are Univ. Oklahoma, Univ. Alabama, Louisiana State Univ., Florida State University, and Univ. of Tennessee. University of Alabama is probably the most 'American' of all. By labeling them as such, we mean that they each seem to have had a long-standing preference for enrolling American students, which is obvious from the fact that they have featured rather infrequently in discussions on this forum. In recent years, however, the percentage of international students in each of these programs seems to have been trending upwards, especially at LSU and FSU. This is clear if one views the current student profiles. All int'l students are treated equally as their American counterparts, although a student complained on the forum a while ago that he or she faced "discrimination' in advising and access to resources and services.
Each of the five schools above securely belongs to Tier 3 or Tier 4 in overall placements. Here, we would like to particularly mention the Finance concentration at Oklahoma, which is outstanding and is on a par with or better than those at such schools as Kansas University and Univ. of Colorado. Therefore, we strongly recommend these programs to those whose profiles might be "average" but who aspire for research universities upon graduation. |
