It starts with the resume We wish we could eliminate the impersonality of the resume review process, but we do believe it is the most equitable way to consider our many applicants. Because your resume, along with all of the supporting information in your application, determines who gets interviewed, it’s obviously a critical first step. We encourage you to do the following: - Make sure your resume accurately reflects your achievements and their scale.
- Make your resume as specific and non-generic as possible.
A well-crafted resume will also give us a sense of who you are as a person, as reflected in the activities and achievements that matter to you. Key areas for focusWe are generally looking for five attributes, which should be highlighted through the examples and supporting details you provide—these include a proven ability and achievement in these traits: - personal impact
- problem solving
- entrepreneurship
- leadership
- an overall orientation toward achievement
EducationIn reverse chronology, please include the following: - your university
- degree granted and graduation year, including subject of your degree
- degree grades, major prizes or awards, significant academic projects, etc., including key dates (e.g., magna cum laude overall; summa cum laude in first year, senior thesis, major research work)
- scores for any standardized tests such as the GMAT, LSAT or SAT and transcripts (if required as part of your application)
- if you studied in an academic system that may be unfamiliar to us, if possible, please try to explain results in context; for example, scored in the top 2 percent of students nationally.
Work experienceBeyond your day-to-day responsibilities, we’re interested in your achievements and the impact you had based on your direct involvement. Feel free to describe any unique skills, experience, and entrepreneurial successes that you would bring to our culture. Other skills and achievementsYour resume should be as complete an autobiographical snapshot as you can reasonably present. Please include any volunteer and charity work or positions of responsibility in professional bodies—especially where they reveal initiative, entrepreneurship, or extraordinary commitment. Don’t overlook the same kind of accomplishments regarding extracurricular activities and significant participation in sports, games, clubs, societies, or hobbies. A high level of achievement in these areas tells us about your commitment and motivation. LanguagesInclude all languages for which you have business conversational ability or better, including an estimation of your level of fluency.
