In my opinion ,the answer would be (B).

不选E：原文有“ Lofgren’s disease has been observed frequently in commercially raised cattle but very rarely in chickens. ”既然都观察到了，怎么能说“A failure to observe Lofgren’s disease “呢？所以，E不对。

这道题是说：鸡和牛都吃了带有病毒的饲料，可是可以观测到大量的牛得了L，却很少观测到鸡得L，why？因为，一般L的症状要在患病1年以后才显现，而鸡在饲养一年之内往往就被卖出去了。

题目的信息说明了，人们是依靠simptons的检测，观察到动物患L的。在L显出simptons之前，也就是鸡被卖出去之前，是没有方法可以检测出鸡得了L的。（不然人们可以观测得到大量的鸡得病....）
