Several industries have recently switched at least partly from older technologies powered by fossil fuels to new technologies powered by electricity. It is thus evident that less fossil fuel is being used as a result of the operations of these industries than would have been used if these industries had retained their older technologies.

这里的OG解释说A和D都有削弱作用，但是个人觉得A中所说的“产出上升”的确和“使用的燃料”多少无关啊，D中“某些公司还在用旧技术”并没有什么影响吧，毕竟题目中说了每个公司至少partly改变了技术。
这两个问题百思不得其解，希望牛牛们能够帮助解答一下，在此谢过。

这是因果推理：
前提（因）：Several industries have recently switched at least partly from older technologies powered by fossil fuels to new technologies powered by electricity
结论（果）：less fossil fuel is being used as a result of the operations of these industries than would have been used if these industries had retained their older technologies

明显前提结论之间有一个gap，E就是这个gap。
A的意思是很多switched at least partly to the new technologies的industries在 switched at least partly to the new technologies的同时还增加了output，这样即使剩下的那部分依然烧煤的部分并不一定减少了fossil fuel的使用。

D同理。

都是总体与部分的关系。

原来如此，醍醐灌顶，原来题目在这里是混淆概念，把“使用fuel 少了”和“换了一部分fuel成electricity”混为一谈了，若是没考虑到这个的确也好分辨，谢谢牛牛！
