Since a lot of XDJMs ask me about textbooks, please be advised that:
1) If you have NOT bought books, just let it be and
buy books HERE. The reason is that different professor
would use different books; you will not know in
advance exactly which textbook you will use in class
unless you receive your syllabus;
2) DO NOT buy previous edition of ACCOUNTING or
STATICTICS textbooks. You will have big trouble in
doing excercises in the books. All the exercises are
in the book. The different editions have different
exercise questions.
3)Do not worry about books. You can buy any books at
any time here.
4)Usually we buy books through amazon.com here in
America. New books are around 60-80 bucks;
5)I don't think Chinese books for accounting are quite
necessary;however they are quite useful to establish
your concepts only if you have difficuties in
understanding English interpretation. Therefore, if you
want to buy a Chinese reference book for accounting,
try to find one that its author is not a Chinese but
an American because the accounting practice is different
in the two countries.
6) Again, do not buy books before registration and
class.
Three ways to buy books:
1) Buy international edition textbook in India if you have a friend in India. It is the exact same textbook with same page number and same content; however it is in black and white, softcover; Price is 10-15 dollars;
2) Buy international editon textbooks in Taiwan and HongKong. It is the same textbook but in color print, softcover. Price is 30-50 dollars;
3) Buy textbooks at amazon.com here in America. Usually they will ship you an international edition in color print, if it is new, it is around 70-90 dollars.
4) If you can not find your books, just buy it in school's bookstore; new or used books. Hardcover, about 130 dollars. You can buy it at any time you want.
