For those who are admitted by Darden and are interesed in Darden

Some of you are asking questions about summer interns, Gate Loan, necessary preparation and I would like to use this channel to answer these questions:

Summer Intern

Currently, all Darden FY Chinese students get summer intern already. We have 13 Chinese students including people from mainland directly and people with green card. Interns include:

Finance Industry (I-Banking, Credit Rating, Corporate Fiance); Venture Capital; Corporate (Leadership Program, Strategic Planning, Brand Management, Marketing, Operation).

Loan

Darden provides Gate Laon for students. However, each people will make his or her judgement call whether to put loan on its I-20. It is really easy to apply to Gate Loan after you land America. All you need to do is to fill in a form. So Loan is not a problem at all.

Preparation

If you have time and want to better prepare your terrific learning experience, I strongly suggest you to learn:

Accounting (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, reading annual report) Excel (medium level such as data analysis, various functions, Solver, Data Table), Macro-Economics.10-day MBA is a good book to start.

非常感谢!

多问一句,贷款数额是cover学费,还是有一个限额?

Just pick any of macro-econmoics book to have a look. 10-day MBA has a chinese version in bookstore. The author is a Darden graduate. This book gives you an outline of first year class. You are strongly recommended to read this book before class strats.

You don't need to buy the bundle computer from school. The disadvantage is that you need to pay about $120 for the configuation of your computer and another $80 for several programs for the class. The school will install outlook mail system, Crystal Ball and other softwares. If you buy bundled computer, you don't need to pay that. Another concern is that you can get better support from the school if you have bundled computer. If your computer has a virus and your computer is down, the school can lend you a computer.

I bought T42 from HK last year and brought to Darden. I did my own match last year and decided to bring my own computer. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Just received an email from the school, highlighting the what is the Darden Message? Who are Darden students? I think that it will be interesting to share.

Darden is to develop 3C, CEO, COO, and CFO.

    1. The Darden program provides Functional Excellence with an Enterprise Perspective.

Darden prepares people for the first part of their career with functional excellence and also gives them the general management and enterprise perspective that is the basis for long-term career success as they move up in organizations and run their own businesses.

    1. The Darden program is intense.

It is intense because we ask you to be prepared to excel everyday.  The fact that you prepare three cases every day and you can get the cold call makes it demanding.  However, it develops in students a habit of excellence and an action oriented “can do” spirit which is the hallmark of Darden Alumni.

    1. The Darden program is built on a platform of Honor and Integrity in our business and personal affairs.

Darden as part of the University of Virginia and committed to producing graduates of honor and integrity who will create long-term value for their organizations and communities.

The sum of all this is that Darden graduates leave the school knowing how to run and lead businesses.  The result[1] is graduates who get the best kind of C’s, CEO, COO and CFO

So if you want to run a business, for others or for your own, Darden is a good choice for you.

hi, efz31990, i have a question regarding the darden rank. why does it drop a lot in this year's usnews ranking? it seems that it is mainly due to the placement rate drops. then how is the condition of second year chinese students placement so far?

further, in current darden students, how many got any scholarships? it seems that there are so few this year. how do you all then support yourself if without scholarships?
