166 People recognize a difference between children and adults. What events (experiences or ceremonies) make a person an adult? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.

As a child, most of us probably had this experience: we were trying on our mother's high-heel shoes or our father's business suit, making up ourselves by using the lipstick, or doing something alike, dreaming that we were already adults. Now we are growing up, when we think about all these things, funny! Isn't it? But what enables us to be the true adult? In my opinion, to be a true adult, one must experience the development both the physically and psychologically.

To admit it or not, to be an adult, you should first physically mature enough. The common idea for the change from the child to the adult is the age, legally 18 years old. At that time, maybe others will think you are the real man. In our country, there is an Adult Ceremony in school every year to celebrate those who are 18 years old that year. That day, you are announced that you are an adult that you should take the responsibilities for anything you will do. Then you should swear to take the responsibility as an adult. Maybe at that time, your feeling is intricate since you feel excited for being an adult, as well as a bit nervous about the responsibility you would face. No matter what you feel, you are a grow-up!

However, reaching the age of 18 does not fully mean that you are a true adult. You should have the qualities to be an adult, the qualities which contain responsibility, ability to handle your daily life, skill to deal with your work or your family, and so on. All these are the psychological requirements for the adult. Take the responsibility for example, when you are at home, you should consider your parents’ need and satisfy them as possible as you can, instead of relying on them to give you everything. When you are at the workplace, you should do your work as well as you could, and take the responsibility of the result of what you have done. Only under these circumstances can you be thought of a real adult from others’ perception.

By and large, I feel, to be a real adult, you should first look as an adult, which means you should reach the age of 18, then you should behave as a man, which means you should have all the qualities to live in this society.
