The Research Center for Emerging Market Studies (RCEMS) at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is seeking to appoint one International Research Fellows in 2013. CEIBS is a leading China-based international business school, with MBA, EMBA and Executive Education programmes ranked in the Top 30 globally by the Financial Times. CEIBS has campuses in Shanghai and Beijing, and operations in Shenzhen and Accra, Ghana. CEIBS is fully accredited by both EQUIS and AACSB.
RCEMS is a newly formed research centre that conducts and facilitates scholarly research on international aspects of business strategies in emerging markets. Specifically, scholars at the center are researching issues within the following broad research questions:
1.     How do large and small firms from industrialized economies enter, compete and grow within emerging economies?
2.     How do local firms compete, cooperate, and catch-up with foreign companies operating in their economy?
3.     How do firms from emerging economies enter and compete in international markets via subcontracting, exporting or direct investment?
The centre is led by Professor Klaus Meyer and also includes Professors Bala Ramasamy, Weiru Chen, Daniel Chng and Hua Zhang. Details about CEIBS faculty and their research interests are available at http://www.ceibs.edu/faculty/facultylist/byname/index.shtml.
The International Research Fellow position is exclusively for a Ph.D. graduate who has been (or will be) awarded his/her degree between January 2008 and December 2013. Eligible candidates may have previously held an assistant professor or postdoctoral position. The position is purely for research with no requirements for teaching or school service. Candidates are expected to take up the position in Shanghai in January 2014 or at another mutually agreed time.
Candidates are to submit a research proposal along with their application. Their research project should generate new insights into business in emerging economies, and aim to publish research papers in top-ranked international journals (e.g. Financial Times 45 journals). Both quantitative and qualitative methods are welcome. Preference will be given to research proposals that relate to the overall research objectives and ongoing research projects at the research centre.
The International Research Fellow will be appointed for a period of two years. CEIBS will offer an internationally competitive compensation package, commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. For exceptional candidates, subject to budget approval, the International Research Fellowship may be prolonged for up to one additional year.
Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a research proposal, names of three references and at least one published paper or working paper. Inquiries and applications should be sent to Daisy Li in the CEIBS Dean’s Office at ldaisy@ceibs.edu.
