211财经院校,金融专业,平均分87,专业课的可能还好一点;

Hello my friend.  While your GPA is a bit low, your TOEFL and GMAT make up for it.  Is there any chance your GPA will be higher at the time when you graduate?  If yes, that would be ideal.  Great that you will have a paper as well.  But yes, you are in range for a top 50 school.  Most likely you will find yourself in schools ranked 25-50.  If you have any idea where youd like to be in the US, that could be a powerful way to start to narrow down some schools.  I would also consider extra-curricular activities.   Remember, schools accept PEOPLE and not just PROFILES, especially when it comes to Chinese candidates.

Hope this is helpful for you, and do let us know what more we can do to help you my friend!

Thx soooooooo much~~~
BTW, actually I realized that my GPA is 87/100, but i'm afraid i can do nothing more about it.
Also, I've decided to take GMAT test again and try my best to get 750+.
As for locations, my first choice is definitely Boston, also I think Chicago or Baltimore is good, too. Well, I admit that's because I basically  have no idea about other places.

Since my GPA is a bit higher, do you think I'm a bit more competitive?
Furthermore, how much does paper count in this process? Esp. my paper is not that quantitive.

Hey there!  Thanks so much--happy to answer all your questions of course!  Once you get a 750 on your GMAT, your GPA wont matter much anymore.  : )   Your GMAT will be so high, there could be NO further questions about your academic credentials.  And as you know, there are plenty of great programs in Boston, Chicago--only one or two in Baltimore, but you should be just fine in the top 50 for sure.  Would you consider California?  UC Berkeley, UCLA--these are GREAT programs, and once you have your new GMAT you will have a shot at all of em.
Papers DO count, but they are not critical. For the sciences they are more critical--we have worked with folks with NO academic credentials in finance, but they still get in.  Why?  Because they have great financial skills--and schools are confident that they can get JOBS upon graduation.  That is the name of the game.

Hope this helps--good luck my friend!

Wow~That sounds really great~
Well, UCLA was once my dream school but I really thought I don't have much a shot of it, not to mention Berkeley.  Well, in this case I suppose I'd better focus on GMAT test now~Your kind recommendation is definitely a great comfort to me~Thx again my friend~

BTW, what about UK? Do I have any shot in applying LSE or ox? I know these are really top universities, but I really like Britain and I'm afraid other schools have really not much reputation in China.
-- by 会员 听枫 (2012/8/7 9:39:40)

只能说Jon Frank一直是MBA思路,完全不了解MSF,UC系统里只有Santa Cruz有一个应用经济和金融,剩下的没有一个学校有MSF,伯克利和UCLA都是MFE,LZ基本是申不了的;

Haha thanks for the kind note my friend.  Actually, we do a TON of Masters in Finance work every year.  And yes of course there are quite a few programs in this family, including Master of Finance, Master of Financial Economics, Master of Quantitative Finance, Master of Economics, etc.  As you read the post we responded to more carefully my friend, you'll see that the person whom we are trying to help did not specify which of these programs to target.  (We will send folks to each of these programs each year of course...and MORE!  : )    IN fact just last year we worked with a kid (with more...challenges in his profile) and we sent him to one of the programs we just mentioned.  iece of cake my friends.  Anyhow, we do appreciate your kind comments though!  And we appreciate that you too are trying to help applicants, just as we are.

Thanks for the note, and keep in touch!

-- by 会员 wyyavv (2012/8/14 16:58:13)

-- by 会员 Karmalot (2012/8/8 15:16:11)

宾州的Villanova类似,which is one of my favorite MSF schools in the U.S.
-- by 会员 Karmalot (2012/8/8 15:28:05)

-- by 会员 Karmalot (2012/8/8 15:50:06)

宾州的Villanova类似,which is one of my favorite MSF schools in the U.S.

只能说Jon Frank一直是MBA思路,完全不了解MSF,UC系统里只有Santa Cruz有一个应用经济和金融,剩下的没有一个学校有MSF,伯克利和UCLA都是MFE,LZ基本是申不了的;

-- by 会员 Karmalot (2012/8/8 11:51:39)

P.S.: A&F是accounting and finance?

-- by 会员 Karmalot (2012/8/8 15:16:11)
