In @ MIT Sloan [2012-04-03] and In @ Ross with $$ + 面試經驗

After 2 years of application, I am in a happy dilemma now...
In @ MIT, In @ Ross with half tuition scholarship (reapplicant) and WL @ Tuck

Female in HK, Gmat 760, T: waived, 3 years IB, 1 year IM and 1 year entrepreneur
Career goal: No specific goal honestly. I just want to explore outside finance industry. Tech/ecommence has been one of my personal passion. Strategy is another area I want to get involved. After two years of MBA, I am planning to return HK/China.

I like the close-knit and college town culture, so I believe two years @ tuck & ross will be wonderful. But WL@tuck means a slim chance to get in. Ross MBA's career stats are getting less impressive these few years. They also canceled non-cosigner loan for international students. Though I got a half ride scholarship, financing remains a big problem to me.

I know MIT is a great school with strong brand name. Ironically, I have not done enough research on this school before applying. I heard that most classes are opened to all schools, including undergrad. It makes me a little concern on the real MBA experience. But for sure that MIT will open many doors I want to explore. It would be great if anyone could share your knowledge on MIT, i.e. classroom experience, alumni network in Asia (i.e. helpfulness) etc..

Appreciate if you could share your view with me....
1) Ross half ride vs MIT?
2) asking Ross for full scholarship (I might try as I believe many international students will drop off this year) vs MIT
3) Tuck (will fly to the campus to fight for an admission) vs MIT?

上次我跟sloan的一年级学生coffee chat，他们说他们跟hbs基本不来往，除了每年有两次机会可以去hbs查他们的job posting，他们反而跟Tuck经常搞活动, hoho。

i am planning to visit both Tuck and Sloan.

I do agree that the strengths at Sloan actually match with my passion well. Another positive of Sloan is the opportunity to take classes @ HBS which enrich my learning experience. I will try to connect to some students and alumni to feel the real culture

to shumo, I started a business before to sell special gift idea. The one i shown is very girly ... something about underwear... haha.... so it's interesting that the interviewer (male) played with my gift.

ls的mm为啥说女生去tuck最好阿？能不能说具体点？
sloan我觉得很适合女生阿，凡是男生多的理工科学校都很适合女生，物以稀为贵么，hoho。另外charles river上的风光无限好啊。

Boston当然不错啦，但是我现在自己的体会，每所商学院都会不同程度上受到其大学的影响。Wharton可能比较例外，是比较独立的一所学校。总的感觉Sloan整体风格比较偏技术，operation和计量。而这种氛围可能不太适合感性一点的同学特别是女孩的吧。


tuck地方偏，但是美丽，同学团结，class小而精，不少女生应该都很喜欢这种环境。就像Kellogg和Booth，抛开专业所长，大概前者的风格更被女生所青睐？个人感觉，不一定正确哦。

Tuck的close-knit非常出名，校友也是出名的帮忙
去Visit的时候感觉同学非常热心，有一哥们只是在一边学习，因为做guidance的一年级学生分享tuck party活动，那哥们也站起来分享他的感受。

后来去其他学校visit, 感觉参差不齐，但是tuck的印象是绝对的impressive.

还能为啥呢，就是family reason阿。Tuck虽然地方偏，离我家还比较近，也是冬天滑雪夏天爬山的好去处。
看来ls比较偏爱风景优美的地方，不过一直在大农村也是比较郁闷的。K家地处富裕的郊区，离市中心不远不近，刚刚好，哈哈。Booth听说附近治安不大好，还有wharton附近似乎也不是太好。Sloan的创业气氛很浓，其实很适合lzmm。

就好比一般都认为mit本科一定是男生多，但是里面的小mm告诉我现在比例基本是1：1，我觉得有点矫枉过正了。理工科理所应当男生比女生多，现在扩招女生，水平层次不起，有些很烂我看还不如我母校的女生。

楼主是女孩，自然tuck是最好的，这是一所你会发自内心喜欢的学校。

Ross也以closeness著称，认识的好几个他们的校友都是非常nice和低调踏实的人。但是prestige和创业氛围肯定不如Sloan了。Sloan是非常好的学校，就是对l女孩来说，稍微感觉有点怪。

不要仅仅因为prestige或者ranking选择一所学校，但是也不能不看到prestige背后的学习和校友资源。

so，争取tuck，如果争取不到，就去Sloan吧。人生岂能尽如己意，任何学校也都不会完美无瑕，淡定从容，好好度过两年最有价值的时光，认识一些一辈子的朋友，找到一份自己心仪的工作，就是MBA最大的收获了。

另，lz是土生土长香港人吗？GMAT 770分好高啊。

四月来Boston吧，Tuck的ASW是4/20，deposit deadline是4/27，估计deadline以后他们可能会转正wl，所以最好在这之前来表忠心。
而且这个时候来可以来找我玩，我5月就回国拉。

Were I you, I would choose MIT definitely. Not only for the big name, but also for the nice city.
Btw, what's your product? Very curious about it ^_^
