系里rank top3,但department在commitee vote时候没有拿到任何financial aid名额。依然会发admission，但也没意义了。 去年gwu招了三个人，今年在八个系分四个financial aid名额的时候被排挤，也就是说今年没有办法招人。 在umn interview的时候和顾老师聊了许多，印象最深的是顾老师拿着JAE往桌上一拍：You tell me, which of the editors graduate from Harvard?顾老师感慨的说中国人喜欢chase big name，但其实尤其重要的是有老师带你帮助develop a good taste，他说当初有个学生被yale和umn同时录取了，做的方向是theroy，顾老师说umn更好，那个学生非要去yale，结果三年后被kicked out了。 Anyway，我估计要去加拿大了，现在的offer是在lsu和alberta里面选，lsu的chair打电话说先给offer，喜欢再去campus visit看看，lsu的两个老师不错，无奈teach太重，看来我不得不去和北极熊做伴了。 各位好运！

And it is obviously very difficult to get into nyu and columbia . The rest of the schools are just not good research schools. Any thoughts, comments?
