A recent report determined that although only 3 percent of drivers on Maryland highways equipped their vehicles with radar detectors, 33 percent of all vehicles ticketed for exceeding the speed limit were equipped with them. Clearly, drivers who equip their vehicles with radar detectors are more likely to exceed the speed limit regularly than are drivers who do not.

The conclusion drawn above depends on which of the following assumptions?

Q78.

A recent report determined that although only 3 percent of drivers on Maryland highways equipment their vehicles with radar detectors, 33 percent of all vehicles ticketed for exceeding the speed limit were equipped with them. Clearly, drivers who equip their vehicles with radar detecters are more likely to exceed the speed limit regularly than are drivers who do not.

the conclusion drawn above depends on which of the assumotions?

A Drivers who equip their vehicles with radar detectors are less likely to be ticketed for exceeding the speed limit than are drivers who do not.

B Drivers who are ticketed for exceeding the speed limit are likely to exceed the speed limit reguarly than are drivers who are not ticketed.

C The number of vehicles that were ticketed for exceeding the speed limit was greater than the number of vehicles that were equipped with radar detectors.

D Many of the vehicels that were ticketed for exceeding the speed limit wre located more than once in the time period covered by the report.

E Drivers on Maryland highways exceeded the speed limit more often than diDd drivers on other state highways not covered in the report

124. Museums that house Renaissance oil paintings typically store them in enviroments that are carefully kept within narrow margins of temperature and humidity to inhibit any deterioration. Laboratory tests have shown that the kind of oil paint used in these paintings actually adjusts to climatic changes quite well. If, as some museum directors believe, paint is the most sensitive substance in these works, then by relaxing the standards to temperature and humidity control, musuums can reduce energy costs without risking damage to these paintings. Museums would be rash to relax those standards, however, since results of preliminary tests indicate that gesso, a compound routinely used by Renaissance artists to help paint adhere to canvas, is unable to withstand significant variations in humidity.

in the argument above, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

A The first is an objection that has been raised against the position taken by the argument, the second is the position taken by the argument.

B The first is an position taken by the argument, the second is the position that the argument calls into question

C The first is a judgement that  has been offered in support of the position that the argument calls into question; the second is a circumstance on which that judgment is, in part, based

D The first is a judgement that  has been offered in support of the position that the argument calls into question;  the second is that position

E The first is a claim that the argument calls into question; the second is the position taken by the argument

1)3%汽车安装了雷达探测系统;
2)在超速罚单中,33%的汽车是安装了雷达探测系统;
结论:
一般来说,装了雷达探测系统的车更可能超速;

-- by 会员 xibao (2011/3/14 5:46:30)
