# 26 Fall Fin PhD求建议 ## BG 985本（非Top2） Econ 美硕 3.9+/4.0 Math: 三件套+Real Analysis等 PhD course: Fin(1) Econ(2) Letter：四封，三封US full prof（Econ2 Fin1），一封US ap(Fin1) 应该都是中强推及以上，都至少1一个RA项目有original contribution，部分项目可能会延续到PhD阶段 ## Interest 以Corporate Finance（e.g., Banking）为主（Asset Pricing 偏Monetary Econ也可），偏好empirical，reduced+structural ## List 目前有推荐人认可的美国项目list，但是考虑目前美国的签证和funding情况，也打算申请一些欧洲的项目，但推荐人不是很了解欧洲项目的培养情况，希望能得到大佬们的宝贵建议！目前的（只考虑全奖）： Lottery：LSE LBS UCL IC INSEAD HEC SFI Oxford UPF Match：FSFM CEMFI Safe: 未有 偏好：Hands on > Hands off，气候湿热>干冷，placement 港新>欧>大陆，不介意小语种地区 不知道这样是否合理，谢谢大家！

非常感谢！是的，可能推荐人也无法帮忙提交这么多，在对faculty具体情况了解后会结合地理偏好筛选一下，也会收集一下培养模式相关信息。

这是非常好的bg了，我其实觉得欧陆没必要申请那么多也会有offer的

Thank you for your comments! I have seen many of your helpful insights on the forum and truly appreciate your contributions. I agree that structural modeling is still not the mainstream approach in finance research. That said, I have  noticed it gaining more attention in recent years’  top school Finance PhD JMP. Personally, I find counterfactual analysis particularly compelling, and most of the projects I’ve worked on so far have adopted a structural approach. So, I’m hoping to receive more rigorous training, or learn from scholars using this approach, during my PhD. Nevertheless, it’s just approach (not the main story).

You should have a chance for INSEAD and HEC. By the way, structural modelling is not the mainstream methodology in Finance research. Papers using this are few and far even in top journals, including the more quantitative leaning JFE.

推荐人中三个associate都可以算细分领域top（参考的话，其中一位有单篇5000+ citation的领域开创性文章）ap目前产出不多，四位均为top5 PhD
