刚才看OG，看到这个句子不明白。搜了半天，想了半天，终于明白了。就是同位语，manufacturing and mechanical pursuits是联邦人口普查的一个分类（category），这个分类涵盖了所有工业部门。前面的reported指的就是这帮黑兄弟在联邦人口普查的时候把自己的情况报告给联邦人口普查部门的。
