下面两句话是不是缺连词啊？



1.The nonstarters were considered the ones who wanted stability, a strong referee to give them some position in the race, a regulative hand to calm manic speculation（后两个省略了‘who wanted’，这三个并列成分间是不是少连词啊？逗号不能单独连接句子吧）; an authority that can call things to a halt, begin things again from compensationarily staggered "starting lines."（动词begin前又不是插入语，干嘛用逗号呢？）（lines后面的句号应该放在引号外面吧？）

补充：分号的用法不太理解，是因为前面的并列成分已经使用了逗号的原因么？



2.We have no pride in our growing interdependence, in the fact that our system can serve others, that we are able to help those in need(我认为并列成分间同样缺少连词); empty boasts from the past make us ashamed of our present achievements, make us try to forget or deny them, move away from them.（三个动词居然不用连词连接！！）

第一句：stabality, a referee,  a hand是并列的名词，不是句子。an authority和前面是并列的，但是后面的begin是that can begin，因为begin这部分是authority结构里的并列成分，如果authority前也用逗号，begin就是前面的referee\hand并列了，所以用分号。

1. a strong referee ……和a regulative hand……做修饰成分是不是应该有连词连接啊？
2. 逗号应该不能连接两个句子把？

我纠结的是连词的问题，很感谢你的讲解。。。
