这题我认为是选C比较好。因为标黄色的句子说了，许多关于半导体行业的研究指出，当公司增加专利活动时，创新并不会增加。然后作者举出了Z和H的研究作为一个例子。

The example of semiconductor industry shows that more patents in this industry doesn't lead to innovation(****) and shows why this happen.
So in C, the connection between innovation and patents .  We should know that there is no connection between these two. If C is the correct answer ,I think the the article show say that how patent leads to innovation.
