Tuck MBA offers a very solid general management curriculum and its graduates have been heavily recruited by top MCs. However, the school itself is a joke among people here in the U.S. because of its in-the-middle-of-nowhere location. There's almost no life in Hanover, New Hampshire. Fuqua is no where near being a top business school despite the fact that John Mack, Chairman & CEO of Morgan Stanley, attended the school as an undergraduate. The cheating scandal last year watered down the school's reputation and it's for time to redeem. That's great! First hand information is the most reliable. I actually took a roadtrip in July and visited Dartmouth at Hanover. I find the location and environment of the school rather refreshing. Yes, it IS in the middle of the woods, but the campus is very clean and beautiful. It is extremely peacful and quite (especially in July, when school is out). I quite like that. It's only few hours away from Boston. But then again, yes it's not for everyone. Many people believe location is espeically very important to business schools. Thanks for reminding me of the scandal at Duke. I almost forgot about it. Yes, it would definitely hurt its reputation. I intented to use Fuqua as my safety school. Now I have to rethink my strategy and use Ivey as my safety. To fill my #3 spot and bump Tuck to #4, I think I will go with Kellogg. I just found out they have an one year program which I might very well be qualified for. I already have a business degree, spend two years at biz school might be an overkill. |
