In January of last year the Moviemania chain of movie theaters started propping its popcorn in canola oil, instead of the less healthful coconut oil that it had been using until then. Now Moviemania is planning to switch back, saying that the change has hurt popcorn sales. That claim is false, however, since according to Moviemania’s own sales figures, Moviemania sold 5 percent more popcorn last year than in the previous year.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the argument against Moviemania’s claim?

A. Total sales of all refreshments at Moviemania’s movie theaters increased by less than 5 percent last year.
B. Moviemania makes more money on food and beverages sold at its theaters than it does on sales of movie tickets.
C. Moviemania’s customers prefer the taste of popcorn popped in coconut oil to that of popcorn popped in canola oil.

我就assume楼主看懂了题干，不解释了吧。

这个题干的一个漏洞就在于，这个5%是不是真的很impressive呢？这就depend啦。可能前年销售超级差，也有可能其他所有业务增长都超过5%，这个份额根本不能说明什么。然后A就补充了这个漏洞，告诉你去年其他业务都是只增长了5%以下哦，那么这个数字顿时就高大起来了有没有。

感觉这个逻辑联系很weak.
5%相对于A选项里的all refreshments很impressive是要基于一定assumption的，就是all refreshments中除了popcorn其余都比较弱。但一个less than 5%的overall可以有很多种组合方式，比如总共有4种refreshments，p(popcorn), candy(c), food(f)和drinks(d),分别的sales增长率为5%, -30%, 15%, 20%(假设overall得出来是3%），这里p相对于c可以说impressive,但相对于f和d就很弱了，这个时候怎么来判定whether the popcorn sales have been hurt呢?
还有怎么来理解这个hurt呢？
1.是amount of sales reduced
2.还是increase slowed down
3.还是跟其它refreshments的sales作对比得出来？（如果popcorn的sales一直以来是10%，换了油后是5%，但其它refreshments都小于2%，这时，就完全可以从两个维度进行interpret 这个5%是否impressive)
能否补充说明下？谢谢

Let me try explaining in a better way.

The below is just an eg:
Lets assume u owned moviemania .
As refreshments u r selling popcorn , coke and ice cream.

The first year u owned it lets say that revenue from all refreshments was rs 900. let the sales of each item be 300 respectively.

The next year . Lets the sales of all other refreshments increased by less than 10 % and pop corn increases by 10 % .

This means coke and icecream could hav made a profit of lesser than 30rs but pop corn has made a sale of 30 rs.

Would u say that pop corn sales has hurt u ? I dont think so.

Here comparison wiht other refreshments are done to prove that popcorn sold more than the other item.
