51. Withthe explosive development of science and technology, people tend to spend moretime and energy dealing with their presentworks, in order to better live in the modern society. When it comes to whether youngsters shouldpursue long-term goals or immediate fame and recognition, there are always a host ofdifferent opinions held by different individuals from different areas. Should the long-term goalsreally be encouraged than immediate fame and recognition? Admittedly, a long-term goalabsolutely could motivate youngsters to devote themselves into reaching the goal as wellas acquiring success. However, immediate fame and recognition could set a more accessiblegoal than long-term mode which can continuously give strength to young people who arepursuing their goals. More over, long-term goals are consist of many short-term goals, only byachieving a series of short-term goals can youngster s finally access to their long-termgoals. Admittedly, young people could get motivations from long-term goals thatis realistic and significant. It could also give a right wayto youngsters who are confused to their lives so that they may achieve significant thingswhich may influence human or society. As is known to all, Mandela whose lifelongdedication is to fight against racial oppression in South Africa , finally was awarded1993 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to antiracism and antiapartheid struggle. No one could deny that a long-term goal leading a final success. However, immediate fame and recognition could make youngsters reallyaccess to their goals not just dreaming for a far achievementwhich is so hard to realize. Farther more, youngsters who have a short-term goal could constantly bemotivated by achieving each short goal. For example, Steve Jobs who never stopdesigning new product one by one, from the ipod to ipad, every step helps himto gain fame and recognition, as the result, he has more confidence and strength for insisting on his magnificentcareer. Consequently, pursuing immediate fame and recognition is much beneficial than settinglong-term goal. Inaddition, whatever the long-term is, how great it is, it all consists ofseveral or a large number of short-goals, unlesssucceeding in the every pieces you could reach the final goal. "Rome was not built in a day" is an oldproverb. just trying to seek a long-termgoal without pursuing immediate fame andrecognition is analogous with the building of Rome in a day. Short-term plans must be stepstoward longer-term objectives. Only when individuals succeed in achieving short-termcareer goals are they able to advance to their long-term career goals. Insum, I concede the speaker's claim that long-term goals could encourage youngsterspursue a self-realization in their lives while itis too far from fame and recognition, that may cause individuals lose their energy andmotivation so as to abandon their original objective. additionally, enough quantitative change causesqualitative change, accomplishing every short-term goal ensure the success of thelong-term goal. After all, different individuals has different characters thatis the standard to choose whether pursue long-term goals or immediate fame andrecognition is more suitable.
