Guidebook writer: I have visited hotels throughout the country and have noticed that in those built before 1930 the quality of the original carpentry work is generally superior to that in hotels built afterward. Clearly carpenters working on hotels before 1930 typically worked with more skill, care and effort than carpenters who have worked on hotels built subsequently.

Q: Which of the following, if true, more seriously weaken the writer's argument?

Answer D: The better quality of original carpentry in a building, the less likely that building is to fall into disuse and be demolished.

问：我可以看懂其他选项为什么是错的但是不能理解为什么这个选项是对的我以为那些质量不好的楼被disused/demolished 说明留下的都是质量好的楼那如果留下的楼里1930年前built的和之后还是有差别那不能weaken啊

Reading comprehension.

"is generally superior to " MEANS that the RATIO of good is higher for older buildings than for recent buildings.

对于这个题我个人是这样理解的，按照先发生的事件为A.后发生的事件为B.此题中“......worked with more skill,care,and effort than......"发生在前，为A."generally superior to that ......"为B。原题中为A导致了B，而答案D提出disues and demolish则又给出了导致B的原因C.即也就是disuse and demolish。D答案我理解为，建筑物的木工质量越好，人们越不会滥用它，损坏它（对它呵护有加）
