PREP语法笔记： The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the precious year.

划线句是答案，我当时选的这个：doubling that of the increase in
解释说如果that 指 the increase的话累赘
我想的是：1. doubling the increase 是不是既可以表示人数增加，也可表示程度增加啊？
2. twice as much as the increase... 这种表达认为是redundant的，我想问如果想表示程度增加应该怎么表示呢？
3.拓展解释还说 doubling the increase of 和 double as much as the increase of 不同，区别在哪？
4. 为什么double as much as the increase可以，而 twice as much as the increase就不可以呢？

4个问题，望各位NN赐教！

我刚才刚刚好看完这题的解释~
我觉得是这样的。

首先这题你选的doubling that of the increase in里面的that是没有指代对象的，因为这道题本身在比较的就是in 1990的increase和the precious year的increase。所以再多加一个that of是没有意义的。

解释里面说，在形容比如dog、water这种东西时，是用twice as many dogs...或twice as much water...的。

但是increase这种词属于什么numerical quantity。。。说实话我也不是特别懂这个，可能就是有数量感觉的那种词= =。。这种词只能说twice the increase，而不能用twice as much increase的。

为啥本来就是in 1990的increase和the precious year的increase对比呢？难道不可以理解成the number of people in 1990和（the number of people in previous year对比吗？

我刚才刚刚好看完这题的解释~
我觉得是这样的。

首先这题你选的doubling that of the increase in里面的that是没有指代对象的，因为这道题本身在比较的就是in 1990的increase和the precious year的increase。所以再多加一个that of是没有意义的。
