Untilmow, only injectable vaccines against influenza have been available.  arents are reluctant to subject children tothe pain of injections, but adults, who are at risk of serious complicationsfrom influenza, are commonly vaccinated. A new influenza vaccine, administered painlessly in a nasal spray, iseffective for children.  However, sincechildren seldom develop serious complications from influenza, no significantpublic health benefit would result from widespread vaccination of childrenusing the nasal spray.

Whichof the following is an assumption on which the argument depends?

  1. Any person who has     received the injectable vaccine can safely receive the nasal-spray vaccine     as well.[C1]
  2. The new vaccine uses     the same mechanism to ward off influenza as jnjectable vaccines do.[C2]
  3. The injectable vaccine     is affordable for all adults.[C3]
  4. Adults do not contract     influenza primarily from children who have influenza.[C4]
  5. The nasal spray     vaccine is mot effective when administered to adults.[C5]
[C1]cannot be the assumption.

[C2]irrelevant

[C3]whetherit is affordable can not be the assumption.

[C4]Correct.If deny this choice, the conclusion of the passage will be damaged.

[C5]Theeffectiveness is irrelevant.

如果children with influenza but without serious implication把病传染给了大人,adults are at risk of serious implication,这就造成了严重问题。 Adults do not contract influenza primarily from children who have influenza.这个选项是使得题目所说的no significantpublic health benefit for children的前提。

至于疫苗是不是affordable倒不是题目讨论的问题,因为题目讨论的是nasal spray for children is of no significant health importance.
