括号里都是修饰语，我记得做题的话理解到这一步就够了~

楼主可能断句没断对地方，整个句子是一个原因状语从句，连接词是 for, for 前面整体是这个从句的主句，cold 和 hard 中间虽然有个逗号，但它们其实都是修饰 metal 的，并非逗号的前后是两个句子，不要分开读。主句的主干是：attempts are bound to fail.
