请问这句话什么意思？
explicitly形容哪个词的？
to the author's... 这个to是哪来的？接哪个词的？
that underlie...的这个that引导的是什么从句？状语从句的话修饰的是哪个词？
完全没搞明白这句话的结构啊。。。

推理，要求，穿越文章的表面内容到达隐藏在表面内容下的作者观点。
