1.Alchaeologists in Ireland believe that a recently discovered chalice, which dates from the 18th century, was probably bured to keep it from being stolen bu invaders.
划线句是正确的。我当时想选:to keep from
我想问一定要 keep sth. from 吗？这里不可以理解为keep和from之间省略了chalice吗？

E：were the Maya who, without the benefit of the wheel or animal transport, built huge palace and temple clusters.怎么不对？

主要后边的being stolen by invaders，有了这后半句，没有it就不行了，一般都是用keep someone from doing something，也符合英文的idom, keep doing不对

我觉得你说得是对的，但我好像没太明白，能具体再解释一下吗？为什么有后面的being stolen by invader 就要有 it呢？

因为有逗号，前面的Architects and stonemasons是做the Maya的同位语的，不能再加动词were,如果把逗号去掉我觉得这句话也可以这样说，但是逻辑意思不如原题好，原句强调的是MAYA人在没有工具和动物的帮助下，建成了那么宏伟的工程。

如果没有by invader的话，就会变成something was kept from being stolen, 其实也没有为什么，mahhattan里也说了，idoms本身就没有why，这个就是老外用法，好好背一下mahhattan里的idoms就容易理解了。

2.Architects and stonemasons, 肯定指认，如果有were who，不就成了, 1） Architects and stonemasons，一帮人，玛雅人干吗干吗。。。。还是说，2）Architects and stonemasons，是玛雅人干吗干吗。。。。，应该是2）中文意思也通点儿吧？
