LSAT-0106-2-4

For newborns of age four to six weeks whose mothers have been the primary caregivers, the following is true: When the newborns are crying due to hunger or other similar discomfort, merely hearing the mother’s voice will lead to a temporary halt in crying, while the voices of others do not have this effect.

Which one of the following is most reasonably supported by the information above?

(A) Babies more easily learn to recognize the voices of their mothers than the voices of other people.

(B) A mother’s voice is the first thing a baby learns to recognize.

(C) Babies associate the voice of the primary caregiver with release from discomfort.

(D) Often only a primary caregiver can provide comfort to a newborn.C

(E) Discomfort in newborns is best relieved by hearing the mother’s voice.

不妥之处望指教

A. If mother is not caregiver, it is not sure that baby "halt in crying" or not.

B. Why is it the 1st? Could it be the 2nd or 3rd? no evidence on that.

C  If babies cannot associate the voice of the primary caregiver with release from discomfort, they won't stop crying.

D. Giving food to hunger baby also comfort that baby.

E. Which is better, giving food or voice? Seems giving food can permentally release the discomfort. At least, it is not said that hearing the voice is the BEST.
