请教关于冒号后句意的理解问题，急急急

今天在做prep12模考的时候，阅读碰到了两句句子，我不太理解其中的意思，请各位NN多多指教哈。

1.However, anthropologist Shepard Krech points out that large animal species vanished even in areas where there is no evidence to demonstrate that Paleoindians hunted them. Nor were extinctions confined to large animals: small animals, plants, and insects disappeared, presumably not all through human consumption.
这是两句句子，我主要的问题在第二句，但因为是阅读，我怕各位理解意思的时候出现歧义，就把前一句一起贴了上来。
我的问题是：第二句结尾的presumably not all through human consumption是接着前面的large anmials: 吗？

2.Although both systems reduced reliance on skilled labor, Noble clearly prefers R/P, with its inherent acknowledgment of workers’ skills: unlike N/C, its programs were produced not by engineers at their computers, but by skilled machinists, who recorded their own movements to “teach" machines to duplicate those movements.
这句句子我想问的是：后的unlike N/C,its 这里的its是指N/C，还是R/P ？？？？？？

整句话的意思是说：人类学家Shepard Krech指出大型动物物种，甚至在那些没有证据表明Paleoindians捕杀它们的地区也消失了。灭绝也不仅限于大型动物：小型动物、植物和昆虫都消失了，推测不全是由于人类的捕食。

这两句的核心都一直在围绕着大型动物灭绝，而且前一句也提及了Paleoindians捕杀大型动物物种。但因为别的物种也都消失了，所以才推导出（大型动物物种灭绝）不全是由于人类的捕食。

我困扰的是，而且以前做题没有这个问题，做到这种一看就要出考点的句子，尤其是冒号的句子，都很搞脑筋，一个逗号隔开句子后就不知道后面的句子跟的是哪个主语，仔细花时间把语义搞明白可能可以完全理解，但考试的时候都是快读，有没有什么读冒号的小技巧？（专门用于冒号后若有逗号后并列句的从属问题）
