[原创]G.CONAN 's Analysis of Standardized Tests
Hi,everybody,it's been some time from the last time I login CD,I have been thinking to write something ,but I have so many work to deal with at this moment, mostly application issues,French learning and English improvement besides some extra-time rest.
Today, I want totalk about the necessary abilities of handling TOEFL GRE and GMAT,and the major difference between paper-based and CAT,from my own view. And I would like to say the 3 are quite distinct tests, you can not amount any one to the other, they test different abilities.that means a toefl full-scorer could get a really shame mark in GRE or vice versa. So if you got a horrible score in toefl, you still have a good chance in getting high scores on GMAT,thus do not be afraid.TOEFL is the one tests your English language skills, from all aspects. However in recent years, the overall difficulty level of toefl rises a lot ,becoming more disintegrated or not strictly-formed, actually this trend is well reveraled in gre and gmat ques now, making test takers esp foreigners big headaches.GRE tests a purview of vocabulary from not only an in depth scale but also a wide-range scale plus quick reading, this theme underlies through all 3 verbal question types.yet GMAT check the skills of using English smoothly and fluently mostly in business and sociology area, you can have a rather small voc to handle it well.
Most people have this misunderstanding about paper-based vs CAT,assuming CAT is much easier than papers, considering the less total questions of Verbal and Quant and the slightly much more time per ques.this is exactly what I suppose before my first gmat CAT.I'll prove how absurd it is.the most inconvenience of CAT is actually the less total question available with only one time chance to face it.Moreover, the ques is customized for everyone by the high-tech cat extracting AI compound with some vicious score deduction traps all along the questions, making the entiring testtime tough to proceed. The average ques solving time is well-considered too,so do not dream more of the positive effects of JJ,JJ can sometimes get you into trouble.Oh,almost forgot ,the cat AI becomes much more powerful with the time being.that means if you can get 700 one year ago ,at this time of year ,with the same level of ability as last year,it is almost impossible for you to achieve the same score as ETS suggests. And on the other hand the paper-based regards as more traditional and lower-graded since it must use a ques-sea tactic to distinguish between the good and poor, the total ques amount far exceed you can handle in the time limit, but do not afraid, you can select those you like and answer them collectly, which will give you a big advantage.let alone the even the full score do not need you to answer all of them. And the math-verbal alternative pattern will assure the restoration of your brain quickly, and maximize your performance efficiency as well.you can even trick the superviser if there is a chance. So everyone facing the CAT will definitely not have an easier time than paper-based,that is my opinion. Actually,a toefl and gre highscorer will have a hard time understanding the professor tutoring,so standardized test is not all about english,is not all about your ability, Gmat is not all about your life, so treat it like a challenge, not an ultimate aim would be a neat idea, and remember the b-school regards gmat only a small part for application. Thanks regards Gconan
