Dear Zhouyayuan,
I'm sorry to hear that you did not get the score you were looking for... I know it must be very tough. DO NOT GIVE UP on yourself or your dream about going to business school!! lease remember the following things: A.) Not scoring above 700 in GMAT does NOT mean that you are less of a person or you are not qualified to become a successful business woman one day. GMAT score is simply one of the many measuring tools that business school uses as one of the criteria.
B.) I know many people who had taken GMAT 3 or 4 times before they got the score they wanted. If the school that you are applying to require a >700 score, then study hard and take it again in 2~3 months. C.) You might feel that getting 640 on this GMAT is the worst thing that could possibly happen to you, but you have to remember that things WILL always work out at the end.
I would recommend you to take a week off from even thinking about GMAT and RELAX... Do whatever you enjoy doing the most and try to smile more. Dwelling on what you could have or should have done on this last GMAT is NOT going to be helpful at all. Just trust that you gave it your best this time around and you will do better next time. In a couple of weeks, once you are in a better mood, come up with a study plan to tackle your next GMAT exam. Think about taking a class or hiring a tutor, etc.
Finally, you should be proud of yourself for not simply marrying some guy and forget about your own dream and career. You are only 31 years old, you still have about 70% of your life left. Ten years from now when you are successful business woman and think back about these GMAT scores, I'm sure you will see how insignificant these scores are.
I wish you the best of luck and keep your head high! I know you can do it...
