LSE毕业申请美国商科phd

因为对美国商科phd申请有很多不清楚的地方，恳请您们的指导，万分的感谢！！

申请背景：

今年七月 LSE (London School of Economics) MSc in Statistics with final grade: Distinction

本科：上海财经大学 主修 经济统计；GPA3.6左右。辅修双学位 会计学。

在雀巢研发中心有过近两年part-time working experience, 主要工作marketing research, quantitative analysis.

现在打算申请2007年入学的phd，惶惶不知申请什么专业比较有希望。

想申请phd program in Statistics, 可是目前找不到statistics phd program的排名；

因为个人对marketing很有兴趣，加上有过marketing research的兼职工作经历，很想申请business school里面的marketing专业的phd. 可是这又牵扯到换专业的问题.....

希望能听听大家的意见与指导！！

Already contacted some Prof.s who are the phd program director of marketing departments (chose from top 10-20, having profs.with interests in quantitative approaches for marketing ..), regarding to their similar reply, like "Your background is very impressive and sounds like it would be an excellent fit for a Marketing PhD program and the program at ****".

A friend of mine (phd 1st year/Utah University/ majoring in Material Science & Engineering)suggest me that,

"If you want to know whether they are really interested in you, you should continue to introduce something special about your research and current project, or ask some specific questions related to their research field. If they reply you with a long mail or even want to talk to you,well, congratulations. But don't expect them to give you any promise now about the stipend because they don't even know themselves where the money comes from next year. TA and fellowship are usually decided by the department but RA is decided by the professor.But different school is quite different,especially business school."

求助：

1)If I plan to apply for 11 schools, should I write to at least 11 professors to "套词",like introducing my research and current project(...in fact, i just graduated from LSE this July...having no current projects...), and ask specific questions related to their research field?

2)is it true that "But different school is quite different,especially business school"? and what is the difference?

I got almost the same reply for the faculties last year.Do not count oo much of such replies. Most of them did so out of politeness.I quite agree with calebxu. Compare each faculty's research and decide whether you like it. If so, then think deeply and contact with this faculty. This will be quite successful. As far as I know, it's not difficult for chinese to be admitted by business schools. When you come to the US, you will know this. From Uni of Michigan to xxx unknown schools, you will meet plenty of chinese students or faculty. Since all of us have done so, you will too! Good luck
