Last year the rate of inflation was 1.2 percent, but for the current year it has been 4 percent. We can conclude that inflation is on an upward trend and the rate will be still higher next year.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the conclusion above?
A. The inflation figures were computed on the basis of a representative sample of economic data rather than all of the available data
B. Last year a dip in oil prices brought inflation temporarily below its recent stable annual level of 4 percen

就是想问选项A为什么不正确。它说通货膨胀数字是由一些代表性数据计算的而不是所有有效数字计算的，表明通货膨胀数据不可信，所以有可能不是上升趋势，可能下降可能不变。很好的削弱了啊。。。

题目问most seriously weakens..
题干中
因：今年的inflation比去年的inflation高
果：明年的inflation比今年的inflation高
问最有力的削弱是同时涉及因和果的...B选项直接否定了因说去年的inflation是因为油价的下跌temporarily低于一个现在显示是稳定的level（4percent）. 所以果也是不成立的。
而A选项只是削弱了因的绝对性即使样本不足也有可能在样本最够的情况下还是一样的结果. 而且跟未来趋势没有关系也就是跟果没有关系
