Food, the basic element of human being'slife, has been the top priority since the beginning of civilization. No matter inregard of the various kinds, or the increasing quantity, food has become easierto prepare. But those people who believe that this will give rise toimprovement of people life, their conclusion is somewhat subjective. In myopinion, this does not necessarily means that life of human race has beenbetter.
Granted, from the perspective ofagriculture, the yield of grains and wheat or other corps has been continuallyincreasing due to the assistance of advanced technology. In the past, all thelabor in the field was done by human or herds, which is poor efficiency, now daysalmost the whole process of cultivation has been replaced with auto-machines,which is effective and efficient. And peasants was afraid of bad weatherresulting in decreased crops and income, therefore some miserable farmers arefaced with famine. Currently with the joint efforts of government and insurancecompany, their income is guaranteed. Nobody worries the issue that the scarcityof food. Thus, basically life has been changed dramatically. However, newproblem emerges- the popularity of obesity which may trigger other seriousdiseases.
Obesity, a common phenomenon in developedcountries, is caused chiefly by excessively eating food, especially junk food,without control. According to an investigation in Britain, almost thirtypercent teenagers have caught with overweight, what's worse; some individualsare inordinately fat that they lose the ability of walking, which, unfortunately,refers to the fact that they have to stay in bed every day at the best time oflife. This issue has aroused the concentration of society, and the Britishgovernment has taken some measures like prohibit the junk food advertising.However, the situation of obesity is going downhill and has no signs of turningbetter.
Moreover, obesity may just reflects a partof food problem in modern society, in other words, it's a corners of iceberg.Because the enormous demand of food, the quality of food can't be monitored comprehensively.For example, no needless to talk about some toxic food produced by illegalmanufactures, the wide-use of chemical fertile should be paid enough attention.Heavy mental blended with fertile can stimulus the rapid growing of plants, butin terms of biology, given the amount of certain heavy mental surpass a value,some mental disease may occur.
Never be too optimistic about the problemof food, just like the speed of automobiles has been raised sharply over acentury, on the other hand, high speed is more likely to cause injuries even deathin accidents. |
