OG12阅读70题的文章是矛盾的吗?海洋的蒸发到底会导致海底沉淀的oxygen 18增加还是减少?

When an ice age begins, the continental ice sheets grow, steadily reducing the amount of water evaporated from the ocean that
will eventually return to it.
》 当冰原期开始的时候,大量的减少了海洋的蒸发

Because heavier isotopes tend to be left behind when water evaporates
from the ocean surfaces, the remaining ocean water becomes progressively enriched in oxygen 18.
》 因为海洋蒸发的时候,通常oxygen18会留在大海中,导致海洋中的oxygen浓度越来越高

根据以上两条,可以得出
1,冰原导致蒸发减少
2,蒸发减少导致海洋中的 oxygen18浓度减少了
3,所以oxygen浓度越高时,冰原是越少的



但是段落结尾怎么又出来一句
The higher the ratio of  oxygen 18 to oxygen 16 in a sedimentary specimen, the more land ice there was when the sediment was laid down.
》 海洋沉淀物中的oxygen18比例越高,那么冰原就越多??



谁能帮解释解释?谢谢

你前面有一个地方推错了,第一点,减少的不是蒸发量,是蒸发了以后还会回到海洋的水的量。所以,冰原越多,能够回到海洋的水越少,18浓度就越高。

你前面有一个地方推错了,第一点,减少的不是蒸发量,是蒸发了以后还会回到海洋的水的量。所以,冰原越多,能够回到海洋的水越少,18浓度就越高。

也就是我原来错误的以为water后面的过去分词evaporated,以及that引导的从句,都是修饰water的
但现在看,句子可以简化成
continental ice sheets grow, reducing amount of water that will return to it.

也就是说return不是修饰water的that从句的一部分,而是整句的一部分,作为谓语动词存在吧?
