  •                                                         Some anthropologists study modern-day societies offoragers in an effort to learn about our ancientancestors who were also foragers. A flaw in thisstrategy is that forager societies are extremely varied.Indeed, any forager society with which anthropologistsare familiar has had considerable contact withmodern, non-forager societies.
Which of the following, if true, would most weaken thecriticism made above of the anthropologists’ strategy?

    •                                                                         (A)  All forager societies throughout history have hada number of important features in common thatare absent from other types of societies.

    •                                                                         (B)  Most ancient forager societies either dissolvedor made a transition to another way of life.

    •                                                                         (C)  All anthropologists study one kind or another ofmodern-day society.

    •                                                                         (D)  Many anthropologists who study modern-dayforager societies do not draw inferences aboutancient societies on the basis of their studies.

    •                                                                         (E)  Even those modern-day forager societies thathave not had significant contact with modernsocieties are importantly different from ancientforager societies.

问题是most weaken the  criticism

criticisim是说因为“forager societies are extremely varied”,所以study  modern-day societies of forager无价值,不能喝 ancient societies of foragers 相比

88. Businesses are suffering because of a lack of moneyavailable for development loans. Which of the following, if true, raises the most seriousdoubt regarding the effectiveness of the government’splan to increase the amount of money available fordevelopment loans for businesses?

    (A) When levels of personal retirement savingsincrease, consumer borrowing always increasescorrespondingly.

     (B)  The increased tax revenue the governmentwould receive as a result of business expansionwould not offset the loss in revenue frompersonal income taxes during the first year ofthe plan

     (C)  Even with tax incentives, some people willchoose not to increase their levels of retirementsavings

     (D)  Bankers generally will not continue to lendmoney to businesses whose prospectiveearnings are insufficient to meet their loanrepayment schedules.

     (E)  The modified tax structure would give alltaxpayers, regardless of their incomes, thesame tax savings for a given increase in theirretirement savings.

107. Although the discount stores in Goreville’s centralshopping district are expected to close within fiveyears as a result of competition from a SpendLessdiscount department store that just opened, thoselocations will not stay vacant for long. In the five yearssince the opening of Colson’s, a nondiscountdepartment store, a new store has opened at thelocation of every store in the shopping district thatclosed because it could not compete with Colson’s.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakensthe argument?

(A)  Many customers of Colson’s are expected to doless shopping there than they did before theSpendLess store opened.

(B)  Increasingly, the stores that have opened in thecentral shopping district since Colson’s openedhave been discount stores.

(C)  At present, the central shopping district has asmany stores operating in it as it ever had.

(D)  Over the course of the next five years, it isexpected that Goreville’s population will grow ata faster rate than it has for the past severaldecades.

(E)  Many stores in the central shopping district selltypes of merchandise that are not available ateither SpendLess or Colson’s.

88选a,107选b。
