I don't understand the explanations on OG>< somebody help!!!!!!thanx!!!

120 the annual rent collected by a corporation fro a certain building was x percent more in 1998 than in 1997 and y percent less in 1999 than in 1998. was the annual rent collected by the corporation from the building more in 1999 than in 1997

my question is from the question, the realtionshipe between 1999, 1998, 1997...my answer is: 1998=(1+x%)1997, 1998=(1-y%)1999, so 1999=(1+x%)/(1-y%)1997...but the answer in OG says: 1999=(1+x%)(1-y%)1997....why why...why ?????

If you understand the definition of speed and average speed, you will say neither condition is sufficient. Speed can be different at every second!
