1，A major chemical spill occurred five years ago at Baker's Beach, the world's sole nesting ground for Merrick sea turtles,and prevented nearly all the eggs laid that year from hatching. Yet the number of adult female Merricks returing to lay their eggs at Baker's Beach has actually increased somwaht since five years ago. Clearly, environmentalists' prediction that world's Merrick popluation would decline as a result of the spill has proven unfounded.

如果雌海龟10岁之后才回海边产卵，那从五年前到现在，回来的那些雌海龟都是从15年前到10年前孵化的，而泄漏事故对海龟的影响要到5年后才开始显现出来。所以说泄漏事故不会影响海龟产卵的论据就被推翻了。

声音有改良的小提琴听起来跟现在最好的小提琴不同。对专业的小提琴手来说，跟现在最好的小提琴不同声音的小提琴就是比现在最好的小提琴差。如果专业的小提琴手是对小提琴声音质量的唯一评判标准。会怎么样？显然就没有小提琴会被认为有改良的声音啦。
improved 和worse是反义的，一个小提琴不能既worse又improved
