这是我随便在题库里找的一篇,想看看自己能写什么水平,希望各位高人能多指教~ IS PROGRESS ALWAYS GOOD?
Since the appearance of the human beings, all kinds of miracles and progress have always been made, our ancestors and we modern people both carved the monument of human’s achievements fiercely. However, while some people highly praised the human achievements, some go against the idea and pointed out many mistakes we’ve made, personally, I’m on the latter side, I don’t think progress is always good.
There’s no doubt that human beings are not afraid of challenge and always able to overcome any difficulties, pushing our civilizations with the pace of time. Progress, which has brought us great change in all aspects, has always been taken as a proof for the intelligence and bravery of us. Internet, for instance, is such an amazing work that it has made us work faster, learn more, communicate more effectively, we’ve been brought of the time that achieving new information would take a long long time.
But I take leave to doubt towards the saying that progress is always good. Just take a look at the powerful German! They used to suffer a lot from poverty after the World War 1, after being encouraged to develop the domestic economy by the terrible Hitler, this country flourished in Europe, however, with destroying other cultures, rubbing others’ resource and leaving endless hatred and pain. The whole world paid such a high price for their progress that even today a lot of victims are still chased by nightmares. We have to admit that progress is the twin of pain, there’s always kind of price to pay for gain. China, developing at an incredible fast speed, is the biggest victims for paying such kind of price, what is with the newly achieved wealth has often been crimes and the widening gap between rich and poor. The progress-making human activities has hurt out Mother Nature in every possible way, forests cutting, glaciers disappearing, flooding, are happening every day. The nature has always being taken its revenge. If we want our culture to be an everlasting masterpiece, then the sustainable development should be put on our agenda.
So after such kind of argument, we can safely draw the conclusion that progress is not always a good thing. Only with these scientific methods and respectful treatment towards others, can we achieve every goal in a reasonable way. |
