E的意思：Patron捐给博物馆的那些东东常常很重要，以至（如果没人捐献），博物馆须通过购买来收藏。

也就是说，这些东东原本也是要买，现在有人捐了，就不必买，那岂不是省了这笔钱。

看你的帖子，你的理解是博物馆要买这些东东，问题是这东东已经有人捐了，还要买它干什麽。就是因为博物馆不必再买了，才会WEAKEN原文的结论：捐赠恶化财政。如果理解成博物馆要买这东东，那根原文就没关系了
