答案说B C选项时是这样解释的：The wordearningtakes the pilot herself, not the records, as its subject. However,earningis close tothe records, not toJacqueline Cochran, making this sentence hard to understand.

earning做 ‘，ving’ 不是可以表示伴随或者结果吗？我感觉这里earning可以作为前面主句的伴随呀。不知我的理解哪错了，望NN指教！

A选项把句子变成两个并列句子，改变了句子原本的意思。和E选项这种状语从句完全不同。

SVO,DOING的结构——earning确实是优先应该作为adverb modifier，作为伴随或者是结果，我们也是这么理解的；但是根据gamt的OA解释，说明即使，doing作为状语修饰前面句子，并不会失去其作定语的功能，所以og里有些题目给出svo，doing——doing可能修饰S可能修饰N。。。。。。其实我是不太支持这种解释的，因为毕竟是adverb modifier，但是这并不影响做题，知道就好，不必深究。。。。。。

另外，还有一点疑问，因为一般来说最好不要改变原句的意思，这里感觉A的意思是把held和earn两件事分开来了，是two independent things，而BCDE全部是将两件事情关联变成了dependent things。请指教。谢谢

（1）同一subject對應兩個不同的verbs，一般直接用連詞相連就可以了。如果再重複subject的話，另外又用連詞，就顯得wordy了。

（2）meaning問題可以分為illogical和ambiguous。雖然BCDE是將獨立的句子變成修飾語，但是正確的選項沒有使句子產生邏輯問題或者是歧義。如果對這個問題分不太清楚的話，建議看看Stacey的blog，很不錯

这里需要澄清一下伴随状语的概念。是由一个主语发出两个动作或同一个主语处于两种状态，或同一个主语发出一个动作时又伴随有某一种状态。伴随状语的逻辑主语一般情况下必须是全句的主语，伴随状语与谓语动词所表示的动作或状态是同时发生的。
这里earning them实际上和held seventeen official national and international speed records是同一动作，不是另一种不同的动作，而且从句子逻辑意思来看这个状语从句更像是对official national and international speed records的补充说明，所以用earned 修饰前面宾语更恰当。

其实我想问D选项为什么说time的真确代词是when？manhattan里面明确说了 when和in which是可以互相替代的！

在一些情况下，定语从句中，when和in which是可以互换的，比如被修饰词的确是表示时间的时候。但名词在句子中不表示时间的时候，比如表示事件，就必须用in which. 在状语从句中，就只能用when.
