Darden may be a really good school?

Having seen so many admissions recently, Darden has really good people. Darden may be a really good school. What do you guys think?

Any special for it?

To be frank, one of their alumni told me that the school's location makes it not so competitive. If you want to go to IB, NY will be definitely better. If you want to go to MC, UVA is OK but could not pass some of the top MC company's pre-screening (such as BCG).

BCG normally only recruits from M7, INSEAD, LBS, and some other schools which they think are at the same level. Sometimes there are some exceptions but you can never consider youself as one of the exceptions, right?

Darden is strong in IB. Every year about 1/3 the class go to work for IB.基本上差不多所有想做ＩＢ非做ＩＢ不可的都能做。

OK. I think I have said that I HEARD from a UVA alumni.

I also HEARD from a BCG VP that only M7, INSEAD, LBS, IMD and other schools they think are at the same level are on BCG's pre-screen list. Darden is DEFINITELY NOT on this list. That's the fact I HEARD and that's not my advice.

BCG recruits 10 or even more people from Darden doesn't mean anything. If you have an internal recommendation, your school does not need to be on the list. Furthermore, if you are from BCG, your school does not need to be on the list. They are what I called "exceptions".

If I have some misunderstanding or if I've got any wrong info., I will say sorry. But that's really what I HEARD and I have no motive to depreciate Darden and Darden people. Thank you.

Yes, I think Darden is a good school. But it doesn't mean it has no weakness.

That alumni now is working for Morgan Stanley, although her first job after MBA was not in a top IB. BCG also has people who never went to Bschools. Your success really comes from your study and your work.

Major MCs including BCG, Bain, Mickency, Booz Allen, Monitors and many other smaller MCs come to Darden every year. All of them have the target to recurit some Darden graduates or interns. I didn't see any dis-advantage Darden has on MC reucriting. Since once you get the chance to the get connected with these firms, it's all about your resume and case interview, and you are competiting with all top schools candidates accross the board. At the end of day, the school name win you the chance (Which Darden do!), and it really depdend on yourself to get the offer.
