以下是引用OKMBA在2007-4-28 11:40:00的发言:Thank you for comments. What is "adjunct professor"? How to assess the faculty quality at an MBA program? "If you come back to China, a Brandeis degree will get you nowhere." do you believe an oversea's MBA will have no edge over local ones? Can you expand on this. Now in painful stage to decide the next step. 1. Adjunct Professors are those people who have other jobs or are not qualified as a Professor but they provide teaching for the students. they are not required to have Phds. A high proportion of Adjunct Professor is a bad signal 2. a Harvard or Stanford degree will be respected. A Brandeis degree will be ignored. Personally, I would rather have a CK degree than a Brandeis degree. if you have a view of the CKGSB video, you will find that we had students accepted to Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Wisonconsin, MIT but decided to join CKGSB (some due to visa issues in early years). These days Chinese are not so stupid as simply equal a foreign education to a better education. Now they know the difference between good schools and bad schools. Frankly speaking, Brandeis International Business School is not a serious school to get respect from people who know business school well. For example, CKGSB is doing joint programs with Columbia, Insead, UCLA, Wharton, UC Berkeley, Darden. CKGSB is also talking with LBS, NYU etc. Ckgsb will never do anything like that with Brandeis and Brandeis will have no way to work with business schools of that caliber 3. For someone who have never been abroad and given the current inferiority complex many Chinese have regarding US, it is understandable that you still think Brandeis is a valuable choice. At one point in the nineties, any school in US is better than China. However, it is changing now. The faculty, course rigor, alumni strength, placement are much better in CKGSB/CEIBS than Brandeis unless you really want to go abroad. The best way is to ask questions to people who has been abroad ( I mean from top schools) and your supervisors for their opinions. 4. Many people really do not know what they want to do. This is a tragedy of the Chinese education and thus blind follows the blind. You really have to know what you want to achieve in life and whether Brandeis will help you achieve that goal. Don't just go abroad for the purpose of going abroad. Go to Brandeis if you want to go abroad. Try CEIBS/CKGSB if you want to go to a better business school in terms overall education and peer strength. Have you applied to CEIBS/CKGSB? 5. The exchange between CKGSB and DArden runs from August to February. If you want to, you can always try to apply to try to extend or get practical training. i do not know how hard it is. Choice is never painful. It is a luxuary
